From February to May 2011 the Schirn Kunsthalle - one of the most renowned exhibition venues in Europe - showes "Surreal Things". This is an exhibition about 150 three-dimensional works of famous artists such as Duchamp, Magritte, Dali, Picasso and Miro.
Scholz & Volkmer has supported this remarkable exhibition with various communicative measures in the web. The highlight of the campaign is a viral, which plays with the surreal exhibits in a surprising way. It shows a bizarre protagonist on his surreal journey. The spot is flanked by an eye-catching homepage takeover, which focuses on Salvador Dali's legendary Lobster Telephone. This special advertising format is staged on high traffic art and cultural websites to attract maximal attention from the culturally interested target-group. Another measure was a surreal Facebook App with which users could surrealize themselves and share the results with friends.
